Scope:

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, placement students, and any individual who has direct or unsupervised access to children at Apple A Day Learning Center.

 

Criminal Reference Check (CRC) and Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC):

 

All staff, volunteers, and individuals with unsupervised access to children must undergo a Criminal Reference Check, including a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (if applicable), prior to their engagement.

The CRC and PVSC must be completed every [insert frequency, e.g., three years] to ensure ongoing suitability for interaction with children.

The center will cover the costs associated with obtaining the CRC and PVSC for staff and volunteers.

The individual applying for a position at the center will be informed of the requirement to undergo a CRC and PVSC.

The individual will complete the required forms and submit them to the appropriate authorities.

Once the background check results are received, the individual will provide a copy of the clearance to the center's administration.

The center's administration will review the results to determine the individual's suitability for engagement.

If the background check results reveal any disqualifying factors, the individual will not be permitted to engage with the children.

Confidentiality:

 

All background check information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Only authorized individuals involved in the hiring process will have access to the results.

Background check information will be securely stored in compliance with privacy laws.

Records:

 

The center's administration will maintain records of completed background checks.

Records will include the date of the background check, type of check conducted, and clearance status.

Disqualifying Factors:

 

Any individual with a criminal record that includes offenses against children or violent crimes will be disqualified from engaging with the children.
