Inversion Therapy For Back Pain Sufferers
Inversion Therapy
Inversion therapy involves being upside down or at an inverted angle while hanging by the legs, ankles, or feet with the intention of therapeutic benefits. The process of doing so is called inversion. It is a form of spinal traction. As we get older we seem to shrink through compression. Getting stretched out on an inversion table can certainly help. There are a wide variety of them on the market but essentially they all do the same thing. They hang you upside down by the feet. I should explain that a little. Total inversion is not necessary nor is it necessary to do this for extended periods of time.
I found lying on one adjusted to a balancing point where I could tip myself into the head down position simply by lifting my hands over my head and easily bring myself into an upright position again very relaxing. Used as a therapy, you would continue to do this over an extended period of time. This may relieve pressure and spinal compression resulting in healing injured muscles. But before buying one you should check with your health practitioner. You may also want to research the terms I’ve added below. I can tell you for sure, you don't want to get yourself upside down and alone if you can't get yourself right-side up again. Here’s a good video to watch if you are planning on buying one.
