The parts are listed in order from most likely to least likely.
Thermal Fuse
If the thermal fuse in an electric dryer blows the dryer wont start until its replaced or bypassed
SYMPTOMS:
Won't turn on or spin
Thermal Cut Off Kit
If problems with either your thermal cut-off fuse or high limit thermostat replace both
PARTS:
Thermal cut-off fuse
Hight limit thermostat
No heat
Barely heats
Occasionally heats
Overheats
Heating Element
Repair or replace the heating element if it has no continuity.
Smells Burnt
Power Cord
A 240-volt power cord can become warn out over time. Inspect it where it connects to the dryer and inspect the prongs where it plugs in for obvious signs of melting or burning Replace the power cord if overheated loose or shorted wires melt the insulation
Low heat
Smells burnt
Sparking
Dryer Timer
The best way to test a timer is b y testing everything else first.
Won't start
Won't heat properly
Doesn't shut off
