COZEN's TEST
• Test positioning
The client is seated with the arm to be tested resting on a table.
The therapist sits opposite the client and stabilizes the involved elbow while palpating along the lateral epicondyle.
• Action
With a closed fist, the client pronates and radially deviates the forearm and extends the wrist against the therapist's resistance.
• Positive finding
A report of pain along the lateral epicondyle region of the humerus or objective muscle weakness as a result of complaints of discomfort may indicate lateral epicondylitis.
Cozen's Test, named after Dr. Fritz Cozen, was developed through his work on lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow).
Contributions from Dr. James Cyriax have further refined its application in clinical settings.
