GILLET TEST
(Stork Standing Test)
• Test positioning
The client stands while the therapist palpates the posterior superior iliac spine bilaterally.
• Action
The client flexes one hip and brings the knee to the chest while the therapist maintains palpation to each PSIS and assesses overall sacroiliac movement.
• Positive finding
A positive sign is noted if the PSIS on the ipsilateral side of the knee being flexed does not move or moves minimally in the interior direction.
• Special considerations & comments
The PSIS on the side of the hip being flexed should move slightly anteriorly during active hip flexion.
The Gillet Test, also known as the Stork Standing Test, is attributed to Dr. Pierre Gillet, whose work on sacroiliac joint function and mobility has been influential in its development.
Dr. James Cyriax’s work in manual therapy has contributed to refining this test.
