LENGTH TEST
• Testing for
The length of the teres major and latissimus dorsi muscles.
• Test positioning
The client is supine.
• Action
The client flexes their hips and knees, and have their feet rest on the table.
The client fully flexes their arms above the head with no arch in the back.
• Positive finding
The client’s arms are not able to reach and rest on the table.
The Shoulder Adductors Length Test draws on the principles set forth by Dr. Florence Kendall and Dr. Henry Otis Kendall in muscle length assessment, with contributions from Dr. Vladimir Janda on muscle balance and postural control.
