Tendonitis, Strain or Weakness of the Subscupularis muscle.

 

​• Test positioning

 

The client is seated, their affected arm at their side.

 

​• Action

 

The client flexes their elbow to 90-degrees.

 

The therapist applies pressure in external rotation, the client resists and tries to internally rotate their arm.

 

​• Positive finding

 

Pain along the subscapularis or weakness.

The Subscapularis Strength Test is based on the foundational work of Dr. Florence Kendall and Dr. Henry Otis Kendall in muscle testing, with additional insights from Dr. Frank Jobe on rotator cuff mechanics and injuries.
