Trigger Points That Refer Pain to the Forearm and Wrist

Pain Referred to the Anterior Forearm
Pain along the anterior forearm and into the wrist,
Medial forearm to the wrist and hypothenar area,
Central anterior forearm and palm,
Flexor Digitorum Superficialis:
Anterior forearm and fingers (especially middle and ring),
Anterior proximal forearm and medial elbow, may mimic nerve entrapment,
Brachioradialis (anterior-lateral forearm):
Deep aching into the wrist and distal fingers,

Pain Referred to the Posterior Forearm
Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus:
Lateral elbow to back of the hand,
Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis:
Lateral forearm and dorsal wrist (tennis elbow area),
Medial-posterior forearm and wrist, can mimic wrist joint pain,
Posterior forearm and hand, radiating into fingers (especially middle and ring),
Posterior elbow and adjacent forearm,
May cause pain in posterior wrist and forearm,

Pain Referred to the Wrist
Wrist pain near the base of the thumb,
Wrist pain near the pisiform and ulnar side,
Ulnar side of the wrist, often mistaken for wrist sprain,
May refer pain toward the wrist in cases of nerve compression,
Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis:
Dorsal wrist pain, especially during extension,
May cause pain in posterior wrist and forearm,
Refers to medial forearm and wrist,
Neurovascular compression can mimic carpal tunnel and wrist fatigue,

Pain Referred to the Hand
Flexor Digitorum Superficialis:
Pain into middle and ring fingers,
Deep pain into the distal fingers, especially during gripping,
Aching into the dorsal aspect of the fingers,
Lumbricals and Interossei (intrinsic hand muscles, but relevant): Diffuse pain across palm or back of hand.
