Pain Referred to the Anterior Neck
Digastric (anterior belly): Under the chin and down into the upper front of the neck,
Omohyoid: Localized tenderness and discomfort in the lower anterior triangle of the neck,
Platysma: Superficial pain over the front of the neck and jawline,
Sternocleidomastoid (sternal head): Pain to the front of the neck, throat, and behind the ear,
Pectoralis Major (Sternal and Costal Fibers): Refers to anterior neck, especially medial side,

Pain Referred to the Lateral Neck
Angle of the neck and down to the superior angle of the scapula,
Scalenes (anterior, middle, posterior):
Sternocleidomastoid(clavicular head):
Side of the neck, behind the ear, and occasionally to the forehead or eye,
Side of the neck, extending to the temple and behind the ear,
Can refer to the side of the neck and upper SCM,

Pain Referred to the Posterior Neck
Deep neck pain along the cervical spine,
Vertical band from the upper neck to the base of the skull,
Base of the skull and mid-posterior neck,
Mid to lower neck and upper shoulder blade,
From the posterior neck to the temple and top of the shoulder,
Can refer to the lower cervical area and back of the neck,
May cause discomfort in the posterior neck when severe,
