RIB's

• Location

The rib cage is associated with the thoracic verterae T1−T12 and are numbered accordingly one to twelve.

Ribs that articulate to the sternum are called true ribs, ribs eleven and twelve do not and are called false or floating ribs.

• Description

The ribs protect vital organs, such as the lungs and heart.

Applying too much pressure can cause bruising or even fracture the ribs.

• Treatment Considerations

Massage techniques that involve compression or deep pressure on the rib cage should be avoided.
