TEST
• Test positioning
The client sits.
The therapist uses one hand to stabilize the distal forearm at the distal radial ulnar joint while grasping the scaphoid bone of the client with the other hand.
• Action
The therapist mobilizes the scaphoid bone anteriorly and posteriorly while ulnarly and radially deviating the client's wrist.
• Positive finding
Positive findings include a palpable subluxation and reduction of the scaphoid, and may be felt if an underlying carpal ligament tear is present.
• Special considerations & comments
This test is easier to perform when the therapist grasps the scaphoid on the volar aspect with the thumb.
