90-90 STRAIGHT
LEG RAISE TEST
• Test positioning
The client lies supine, stabilizing both hips at 90-degrees of flexion with both hands.
The knees are bent in a relaxed position.
The therapist stands next to the client.
• Action
The client is instructed to actively extend one knee at a time as much as possible.
• Positive finding
If the knee is flexed greater than 20 degrees, the hamstrings are considered tight.
• Special considerations & comments
When assessing this test, care should always be taken to be consistent with the position of the pelvis so that testing measures can be repeated with reliability.
