GILLET

TEST

• Test positioning

The client stands while the therapist palpates the posterior superior iliac spine bilaterally.

• Action

The client flexes one hip and brings the knee to the chest while the therapist maintains palpation to each PSIS and assesses overall sacroiliac movement.

• Positive finding

A positive sign is noted if the PSIS on the ipsilateral side of the knee being flexed does not move or moves minimally in the interior direction.

• Special considerations & comments

The PSIS on the side of the hip being flexed should move slightly anteriorly during active hip flexion.
