Oedema is an excessive accumulation of fluid in the interstitial regions of the tissues.
• Factors contributing to the formation of oedema include
- elevated capillary blood pressure,
- venous or lymphatic obstruction,
- pressure disorders,
- renal failure,
- tissue inflammation and,
- corticosteroid usage
