PASSIVE TENNIS

ELBOW TEST

• Test positioning

The client is seated with the involved elbow in full extension, resting the forearm on a table and allowing the wrist to hang over the edge of the table.

The therapist is seated opposite the client.

• Action

The therapist passively pronates the forearm and flexes the subject's wrist.

• Positive finding

A reporting of pain along the lateral epicondyle region of the humerus may indicate lateral epicondylitis.

• Special considerations & comments

The therapist may also palpate the involved lateral epicondyle region during the test to assess the tightness of the common extensor tendon origin.

This test may also be performed with the elbow in flexion.
