90-90 STRAIGHT LEG RAISE TEST

TEST POSITIONING

 

The client lies supine, stabilizing both hips at 90-degrees of flexion with both hands.

 

The knees are bent in a relaxed position.

 

The therapist stands next to the client.

 

ACTION

 

The client is instructed to actively extend one knee at a time as much as possible.

 

POSITIVE FINDING

 

If the knee is flexed greater than 20 degrees, the hamstrings are considered tight.

 

CONSIDERATIONS & COMMENTS

 

When assessing this test, care should always be taken to be consistent with the position of the pelvis so that testing measures can be repeated with reliability.
