Pectoralis Major Length Test

TESTING FOR

 

The length of the pectoralis major muscle.

 

PROCEDURE

 

The client is supine.

 

A. Testing Clavicular Fibers:

 

The client abducts shoulder to 90-degrees.

 

POSITIVE SIGN for Clavicular Fibers:

 

The client's arm does not drop below the table level.

 

B. Testing Sternal Fibers:

 

The client abducts shoulder to 150-degrees.

 

POSITIVE SIGN for Sternal Fibers:

 

The client's arm does not drop below the table level.
