SQUISH TEST

TEST POSITIONING

The client lies supine on the table while the therapist places a hand on each of the iliac crests and the anterior superior iliac spines of the client.

ACTION

The therapist compresses downward and inward at a 45-degree angle along the iliac crest and anterior superior iliac spine bilaterally.

POSITIVE FINDING

Subjective complaints of pain are noted as positive findings and may be found anteriorly or posteriorly.

CONSIDERATIONS & COMMENTS

This test assesses the stability of the posterior sacroiliac ligaments but also directly applies compressive forces to the anterior sacroiliac joint.

Thus, the location of pain should be noted and correlated with any additional findings.
