From Spirituals and Gospel, to Jazz and the Blues, we have influenced modern music. This includes Rock ‘n’ Roll, Country and Bluegrass, and Pop music. Our own modern music Includes Soul, Rhythm and Blues, and Hip Hop and Rap music.

Far from being ignorant or stupid, great academic leaders, like Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois, have graced the stage in the past. Over a hundred Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have produced many doctors, lawyers, and community leaders. One graduate, Kamala Harris, is even Vice-President of the U.S.A.!

Harriet Tubman. Sojourner Truth. Fredrick Douglass. Malcom X. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Medgar Evers. John Lewis. Diane Nash. Fannie Lou Hamer. Clemmie Greenlee (shown above). These and many others have worked to make this world a better place. From the abolition of slavery to women's rights to civil rights, many worked on different human rights issues that benefit us all.
