ABOUT US

Camelia and Alan Harvey grew up on the island of Jamaica.  Although from completely separate backgrounds, their worlds became intertwined in more ways than one. But most importantly, they have an undying passion for cooking. They immensely enjoy pleasing  the palates of everyone with the most sumptuous and mouthwatering foods. So despite having followed other vocations, their dream to open a restaurant always remained in the forefront.

When Camelia and Alan migrated to the USA, their dream was made into a reality. Harvey's Kitchen was born. Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, close to their current home, they are truly grateful and honored to have had the esteemed pleasure of serving this locality for eighteen years and counting, providing a combination of American and Jamaican cuisine expressed in the most awe-inspiring dishes and fruit cakes (black cakes) done best only by an experienced Jamaican and leaves customers with an unforgettable taste.

Like all businesses,  there are ups and downs-good days and bad. Yet, like true winners, they do not quit. Camelia and Alan are now sexagenarians, yet their passionate flame hasn't diminished one tiny bit. They rise with the sun each work day, connected with God, filled with enthusiasm to do what they love to do-cook and bake. Therefore, they ensure every meal, both food and pastry, is meticulously prepared. They strive to ensure that the Harvey's Kitchen  unique brand  is consistent and authentic.

Although still a relatively small enterprise, the Harvey's are hopeful they won't be for much longer. Therefore, they will move to a bigger space. Harvey's Kitchen hopes to wow more palates with magnificent dishes.  Camelia and Alan are proud entrepreneurs who endeavor to continue  providing meals as a timely “experience-in-motion” where desires are ignited and customers want to come again and again.
