The Importance of the Mental Game in Rugby

Mental toughness is key in rugby.

As we've said earlier, because many athletes have similar physical talents at the highest levels of competition, the difference between a great performance and a decent one, or between winning and losing, is frequently tied to mental abilities rather than physical abilities in high-level sports.

It often comes down to playing well under pressure and maintaining focus on the field in order to perform at their best.

It's even more important in high-pressure situations such as a last-minute penalty goal in a test match, or when your team is on the attack and the opposition are ten points ahead with only a couple of minutes left on the clock.
