  In the past History –

The nutritious raw fodder, in the foothill pastures where Cows graze, resulted in such Cow's milk, Goumaya and Cow-mutra to provide good immunity to the mankind. According to our forefathers, 400 years ago in the history of Karnataka, cows used to yield 6-8 liters of milk on an average. There existed more cows than human population; today we have only 22% of desi Cow vis a viz human population.

There are innumerable reasons for this situation. We haven't focused on this issue since 1900’s. In an attempt to boost the dairy economy in 1970’s, as an alternative system, foreign milking animals were introduced. Operating it like an industry, we are only focusing on the financial benefit. As a result, the health of the Desi Cow, agriculture and mankind are completely ruined. A life without health, agriculture without crops, has nothing to contribute to the country. Instead, they become a burden.  Industry, good education, scientist, soldiers are needed for a country to function.

A healthy and sustainable food system is very important for all these to happen. How long can food be imported from abroad? It should be a process of growing within the country to attain self-sufficiency. Isn’t it true that agriculture is the basic source for food? If you look at the real history of Bharath, 400 years before, you will know that we used to export food to the whole world. Even now we can attain such state. For all this to happen, protection and improvement of the original Desi Cow breed is the best sustainable solution. If Desi Cow breed is strengthened, many benefits will get activated, like good agriculture, superior crops, good industries and a healthy life to the mankind. We need to act in this direction.

Do cows need good food too? This Abhiyana was started with this aspect in mind. Gaugopa is responsible for providing proper Cow Food (Dry grass, corn or maize stubble with honey) and medicated herd to the Desi Cows of the Gou-shala.

Mission

“To provide well balanced Gou Food (Dry grass, corn or maize stubble with honey) and medicated herd (as per Charaka Samhita) to every single Desi Cows of the Gou-shala”

The word "Gou" in Sanskrit means 'light'. All of us must make a concerted effort to resurrect the ancient culture of Bharath. In ancient times, a cow in Bharath was worshiped as a Goumatha. As time passed, Goumatha fell victim to man's greed.

As God has created man above all the animals and birds, another special creation in this land of Bharat called ‘Cow’. Such a unique, wonderful creation especially created for the salvation of mankind. .

We have seen the examples from the history of what happens when one goes against the nature’s creation. In the name of modernisation, Cows are used mainly for the commercial production of milk; we are using techniques which damage the Gou’s udder. This is the result of so called western/modern science, which is causing great pain to Gou-matha and her family. Humans ignoring nature’s balance are responsible for today's catastrophic consequences, environmental imbalances and modern diseases.

We believe that getting Gous back into the "Goumatha" position is the key to solve external and internal (spiritual) problems of Bharata and also of the entire world. The revival of the ancient culture of Bharata has already begun to take place in the world. The goal of this Abhiyana is to find out how Cows and Gou-shala are useful to the mankind in all the aspects of modern life - nutrition, health, agriculture and economy.

Activities

  Teaching Traditional Goupalane

Key Points:

1.   Older, non-milking Cows, Ox, Calves and Bulls are not to be kept out of the Gou-shala.

2.   They have to be taken care of till their end,

3.   No compromise to be done with quality and quantity of their food.

4.   Cows to be kept untied all the time.

5.   We impose complete restrictions on artificial insemination.

6.   We are committed to the practice of Dohan (Milking), a practice of ancient Bharat.

·         The miracle of the creation of the Supreme God has given cows four nipples. Two for calves to drink milk through which they are satisfied. It is believed to also cause indigestion if calves consume more milk from cow. The other two can be used for milk for mankind.

We are going to mentor on this activity to every desi Gou-shala.

Mentoring Farming practices

In today's situation, farmers have adopted many types of regional farming practices. In reality, the farming practices followed by our previous generations never reached us. The main reason is the post-independence educational system followed by in our country.

Our elders have demonstrated the use of climate-friendly fertilizers and pesticides in simple yet effective ways. New farming research and development was not needed for Bharath and there is a strong need for revival of the proven old system.

Farmers through traditional farming using Desi Cows can achieve improved crop quality, quantity and more profit. It requires continuous effort and a profitable farm can be developed, at very less expense. By learning about the quality of the soil, one can harvest three crops a year. It is made possible through the traditional system.

Many products can be manufactured from milk, Gou-maya and Cow-mutra of non-milking cows, milking cows, calves, oxen and bulls. Fertilizers, pesticides, weed killers, chemical free soaps, tooth powders; paints are to name a few. The intention of this Abhiyana is to make these products available to the farmer at an affordable price.
